I'm so looking forward to the

NIKE HUMAN RACE 10K

event taking place on the 31 August 2008. I'm running with 9,999 other Singaporeans, along with other people around the world all in the name of charity. Of the 3 charities I think I chose to donate to the World Wildlife Foundation “WWF”.

Once again, another one of us turns 21.

Happy 21st Birthday Samantha Soh a.k.a “Sammers”.

Now that the 2008 Beijing Olympics have been concluded...
Lets all applaud everybody on a job well done.

Really, especially the sports people. Come on. They trained hard for 4 years for this 1 big moment. As a sportsman, I know how it feels like, especially if you come out of the Olympics with a medal.

And to be honest, I was a little skeptical in the beginning that the Chinese could pull off something spectacular. I was proven wrong. They put on one of the best shows in history.

Congratulations. I'm impressed.

But now I can't wait for London 2012. And I wanna go watch it in person haha!

Anyways these are some of my personal best moments of the Olympics...

1.It has to be Michael Phelps. Come on... 8 swimming golds, 7 world records. Especially the 100m Butterfly race, that was jaw-dropping damnit... He is the athletic of the Olympics man!

2.You've got to admit, the lighting of Olympic torch was pretty awesome.

3.Ok how can I not include one of our proudest moments in Singapore's sporting history. Finally we won another medal. Our women's table tennis team rocks... Though ironically all 3 are made in China. Haha

4.I'm not really into athletics and all but you got to admit, when that bolt of lightning struck... you can't really not watch.

5.“The Chinese sure know how to put on the best fireworks”. Singapore Fireworks Festival, please take note.

6.I love tennis very much. And I think Federer is one of the greatest player there is, but I'm not that much of a fan so I was kind of happy Blake won.

Well obviously there were plenty more best moments at the Olympics but I can't find a good enough link so I think I shall just mention it:

7.Finally Brazil Volleyball's team won the elusive Olympic Gold medal against the USA

8.Sorry but I was damn happy China didn't sweep the Olympic Diving Medals. CONGRATULATIONS MATTHEW MITCHAM that was bloody brilliant diving from you dude

"WEEDS"

“A weed in a general sense is a plant that is considered by the user of the term to be a nuisance.”

Our lives are like gardens. Just think about it.

There are a variety of flowers (Roses, Lilies, Dandelions, Sunflowers and even Rafflesia, etc.) which actually represents our friends. The different friends we have around us. I'm sure some of my friends are like 'Roses' – sweet, loving people. Then there are some who are like 'Rosmarinus' – unassuming, trusty friends. Hell I'm even sure I have some friends who are like 'Rafflesia' – smelly, big mouth but ultimately still my friends.

Trees are like our families, strong and always there.

The “birds and the bees” are the girls in our lives. Wait did I say “birds and the bees”! I meant “birds and the butterflies”. Ever sexy, sweetening our life AND always in abundance. HAHA oops! Come on girls, you know I'm just joking.

The sun, rain, wind, and even snow pretty much represents the “seasons” we have to go through in our lives. Our ups and downs.

But with all the good things in life, there's always something nasty stuck there. In this case, one of the nuisances of a garden comes in the form of weeds.

“Weeds may be unwanted because they are unsightly, or they limit the growth of other plants by blocking light or using up nutrients from the soil. They can also spread pathogens that can infect and degrade the quality of plants. Weeds are also nuisances as it has thorns and prickles, causes skin irritation when come in contact with, and/or parts of the plants may come off and get attached to furs, clothes, etc.”

These weeds describe the many people we defintely have to bump into. They put on a front of beauty. But really inside them, they are irritants and they block the growth of other people. They intentionally attach onto you and refuse to get off you.

These are the kind of friends who gains your trust and make you really feel you are his/her best friend, buddy, bff's, girlfriend, etc. BUT if you really think about it. You will be able to come up with many, many instances where all they really care about is themselves. You want to get something done, they tell you another time, and eventually, another time never comes. And when THEY want to get something done, they insist you go along with them. You kind of don't have a choice.

You want to meet your friends but they usually come up with very good reasons to convince you to accompany them instead. When you really meet your friends, they start calling asking when you are done. If you don't want to me, they throw a hissy fit. And you find yourself getting trap in this vicious cycle of not being able to do the things you really want to do.

And if you point out this or any other selfish instances to them, they will raise their voice and start giving some bullshit of a reason to counter back at you to make it seem it really is your fault and not theirs. And they come up with pathetic instances to say how much they have done for you. When really, the rest of the world knows that is not true.

In every sense of they way, they are hypocrites. The irony is that they usually tell you they hate hypocrites. But that's because they are too much in self-denial to figure out that the ultimate hypocrite is the one who say he isn't.

Let me give you an example, I once had a friend (wait. I have plenty of related examples but different scenarios and different people) who made me believe that I was his good friend. But what kind of good friend would you be if you pay for everything because he is totally incapable of securing a steady job or education and he promises to pay you back when really he doesn't. And everytime you meet (which can be as often as everyday) he talks about his life, dreams, goals, ex girlfriend, family and when you try to say something, he cuts you off. Then he starts saying that he is the one whose always there listening to me talk about my crazy ex girlfriend. Do you see the HYPOCRACY of it all here?

Or when he convinces you to tell your mother to pay for his laptop for his school purposes and that he will pay her back a certain amount every month when in actual fact it has been more than a year and he hasn't bothered to pay a single cent, AND he has dropped out of the school he was supposed to use the laptop for...

You see, there comes a certain point in your life you got to seize control of your own destiny. I think I have had enough of the nice guy because everybody seems to want to jump all over me. Well guess what, no more.

I want to live the life I had always dream of. I want to do the things I want to do. And to do that I have to get rid of the “WEEDS” in my life. Or else I'll never be able to move on. It may have taken 21 years to figure that out BUT I sure as hell am glad that I did and its still not too late.

And I advice all my true friends in this situation to do the same. DO NOT live in a self-denial trance. Do things for yourself. Be who you want to be. Trust me it's defintely one hell of a load off your shoulders.

And truthfully, honestly, frankly. I have never been happier at where I am in life had I not gotten rid of the many WEEDS in my life. And I'm finally able to move on.

Trust yourself. And trust your own instincts. They are usually right.

If those reasons are all the reasons you give me about you being a good friend for me. Please do try harder cause those reasons are truly PATHETIC.

You know what's the scary part of it all. Many people know I'm never wrong about things, including you. Which means, You know all that I have said was and is and will always be right.

OH before I forget. The real coward is the one who hates cowards because they are too scared to admit that they are.

LIFE IS TOO DAMN SHORT!

Yeah I am sure you guys are like, "yakyak, bla bla bla, we have heard this before"

But isn't it funny that only when things start happening to your friends and family around you, things that are not suppose to happen in this perfect life of ours. Yet it is.

And when it strikes, you just seem to have a whole new meaning to that phrase.

Psychologically speaking, it makes perfect sense.

We are too human to realize whatis really important in our lives before its really gone. I

ts really taking for granted and not being prepared to face the fact that even the best things in life do come to an end.

Or does it have something to do with age? Perhaps as you grow older you tend to cherish more things in life with every year that passes by...

I spent the last 21 years of my life trying to fit in to other peoples' life, trying to figure out what was really important in my life when in actual fact, I already knew. I just couldn't see it.

Because of that, I could not take the time to actually enjoy the things that arehappening around me. The sights, the sounds, the people, the experiences.

Dear huda,
What is going on with you now is a shocker. None of us could see it coming. Unfortunately, sometimes bad things happen to good people. In your case,a very nasty thing happened to a very GREAT person.
But no matter how hard things are going to be, everyone of us (Yes perhapseven your "bestest" friend) are here by your side. Rooting for you!
As I said to you, you are one of our strongest friends. So even at the hardest moments, just remember to be strong!
